John has lived on the Eastern Shore since he was 13 years old, but is a ‘Shore Boy’ at heart. In 1965, his family moved from Pompton Plains, NJ to establish Kluis Nurseries, a thriving family operation until it was sold in 2004. Today, John enjoys being active in his church and his role as Opa to his 10 grandchildren.
John considers growing up on the Shore a blessing. He enjoyed the close neighborhood atmosphere of Onancock, which continues today. His experiences on the waters of the bay, creeks and ocean deepened his love for the Shore. He views being a realtor as his opportunity to help others experience the pleasures of the Eastern Shore lifestyle.
John’s interest in real estate began with his own experiences in buying and /or selling homes and land, as his family and business needs changed. Watching his grown children maneuver through various stages of buying and selling homes has given him a keen interest in matching young adults with homes that meet their specific needs and budgets. He tries to guide them carefully through the purchase or selling process so that home ownership will be a successful experience. Additionally, his wife’s retirement from teaching has given him first-hand insight into the stage of more affordable retirement home or finding the perfect vacation getaway or second home. As a former business owner, commercial properties also peak his interest. He enjoys carefully researching all aspects of commercial properties so that his customers will find exactly the right location for success.
